Peoples Church Preschool is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support our classroom teams. This position works closely with Lead Teachers and the Preschool Director to create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment where children can learn, play, and grow.

The Teaching Assistant supports daily classroom routines, assists with lesson plans, and helps children develop social, emotional, and academic skills in a nurturing setting.

Schedule

This is a part-time, hourly position. Schedule may vary depending on classroom needs and assigned hours.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Support

• Assist Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities
• Support children’s learning and interactions using positive guidance techniques
• Facilitate small group and interest area activities as requested
• Help children during meals, toileting, nap time, and self-selected play
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment, including preparing materials and tidying workspaces

Child Development

• Engage with children to support language, social, and cognitive development
• Assist with observation and documentation of children’s learning and growth
• Support individual needs of children under the guidance of the Lead Teacher

Team Collaboration

• Attend trainings and professional development sessions as assigned
• Collaborate with Lead Teacher and Director to solve classroom challenges
• Perform other duties as assigned to support a high-quality early childhood program

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to provide visual and audio supervision of children at all times

Preferred Experience

• Previous work with children under the age of 6
• Experience in a preschool, daycare, or early childhood setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
• Ability to see, speak to, and listen to children
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors year-round

Working Environment

Teaching Assistants work in a collaborative, hands-on early childhood environment, including classrooms, outdoor play spaces, and occasional administrative tasks.
