Tata Group: Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) in the central digital team, you will work hand-in-hand with group companies to build, scale, and deliver high-impact digital and AI solutions. You will be embedded in business-unit contexts, acting as the technical front-line for platform adoption, solution prototyping, and capability deployment. You will collaborate with product managers, architects, and data scientists from both central and local teams to make digital transformation real on the ground.
You won’t just ship code—you will shape outcomes.
 

Key Responsibilities
 

Embedded Co-Creation
• Work shoulder-to-shoulder with group company teams on-site to co-create digital and AI-powered solutions.
• Act as the technical face of the central team in front of business and product stakeholders.
Build & Deploy
• Design, build, and deploy production-grade software, data pipelines, APIs, or AI models tailored to business-unit needs.
• Extend or customize central platforms and toolkits for local scalability and usability.
• Give ideas for accelerators to be used by others
Problem Framing & Solution Design
• Understand ambiguous business problems, rapidly frame hypotheses, and propose actionable technical solutions.
• Conduct working sessions with cross-functional teams (supply chain, stores, finance, ops).
Required Qualifications
• Experience in full-stack software engineering, data engineering, or ML systems.
• Strong coding skills in at least one general-purpose language (Python, JS/TS, Java).
• Exposure to deploying real-world systems (microservices, event-driven architectures, ML models, etc.).
• Ability to think from first principles and explain complex systems simply.
• Experience in taking AI systems to production
