JOB DESCRIPTION

Apex is seeking a Cybersecurity & Risk Intern to support the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity offerings across our Managed Security Services (MSS) portfolio. This internship is designed for undergraduate or graduate studentswho possess a genuine interest in cybersecurity, client delivery, and the business side of security services, along with a foundational technical background with a desire to apply what they have learned in real-world environments.

This internship provides exposure to enterprise cyber programs, security frameworks, offering development, and sales enablement activities that directly support client engagements and business growth. It is a structured learning experience with hands-on exposure, mentorship from experienced security professionals, and opportunities to contribute meaningful work that supports both our clients and internal security programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing cybersecurity service offerings, playbooks, and delivery frameworks for internal and client use.
  • Participate and contribute to security assessments, tabletop exercises, or threat-modeling sessions
  • Support documentation of security controls, risk summaries, and compliance requirements 
  • Assist with policy drafts, risk summaries, compliance documentation, and security framework mapping as needed.
  • Gather requirements and specifications for bespoke work product (reports, tools, etc.) and assist in the development and maintenance thereof
  • Gather information and details for building out case studies for our services
  • Create sales enablement content such as capability briefs, client-facing slide decks, value propositions, and market insights.
  • Support the preparation of materials for client presentations, executive updates, and proposal responses.
  • Conduct research on cybersecurity market trends, competitive positioning, and emerging enterprise security needs.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity delivery leads to document best practices, case studies, and repeatable delivery patterns.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, Business Technology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through coursework, labs, certifications, personal projects, or competitions (CTFs, HackTheBox, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalling, routing)
  • Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts, risk management, and security frameworks (NIST, ISO, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into business-friendly content.
  • Experience with creating or presenting slide decks (PowerPoint), documentation, or research reports.
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
