SERVICE AIDE DUTIES

 

  • Conduct routine patrols of campus buildings and surrounding areas to ensure safety and security. Inspect the interior and exterior of facilities for hazards such as broken windows, malfunctioning lights, missing fire extinguishers, or other unsafe conditions, and report findings promptly.
  • Provide assistance to motorists on campus, including jump-starting vehicles and offering general support as needed.
  • Perform parking enforcement duties across campus, including monitoring compliance with university parking regulations and issuing citations when appropriate.
  • Support crime prevention initiatives by assisting with programs, events, and educational outreach designed to promote campus safety and awareness.
  • Offer visual escort services to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring safe travel between campus buildings, residence halls, and parking areas.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to daily activities, incidents, and services provided.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and sworn officers, following directions and established procedures at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the department.

Qualifications and Expectations

Police Service Aides must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong motivation. The role requires the ability to follow instructions carefully while representing the Oakland University Police Department in a positive and respectful manner. Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to public service are essential.

Will work around school schedule.

Staring pay is $15.00/hour.
