Essential Functions
The HR Intern / Student Assistant provides front-line support to the Human Resources (HR) team while gaining direct exposure to the full HR lifecycle. The position balances clerical and administrative responsibilities with opportunities to participate in projects across employment, employee relations, benefits, compensation, records, and payroll. The role is designed to provide meaningful, practical learning experiences for students pursuing careers in HR or other related fields.
Examples of Duties:
- Serve as first point of contact at the HR front desk; greet visitors, answer phones, and route inquiries appropriately.
- Provide administrative and operational support to HR staff, including scheduling, data entry, filing, and document preparation.
- Assist with the maintenance of personnel and other HR records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with record retention requirements.
- Support benefits administration, including processing enrollment and separation documentation using SAP and shared platforms, updating benefit resources, and assisting in addressing employee benefits questions.
- Learn and apply key regulatory requirements related to employment and benefits eligibility.
- Assist with payroll support tasks, including audit activities and time entry tracking.
- Review NRA (Non-Resident Alien) tax packets; after training, communicate with employees regarding tax treaty requirements and follow up on required documentation.
- Participate in HR meetings and cross-functional projects to gain broader exposure to HR operations.
- Contribute ideas to improve HR processes and employee experience initiatives.
Work Schedule
Office hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday - Friday. Work schedule for this position is flexible for academic schedule, up to 20 hours per week.

Required Qualifications
- Current student who is interested in gaining professional experience.
- Open to all majors; coursework or interest in pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or any related field preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; professional and welcoming demeanor.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); willingness to learn HR systems such as SAP and PeopleAdmin
- Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced team environment.
