Physician Fellow- Individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities
FSU/Lee Health is seeking a Physician Fellow for the Individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Fellowship!
Lee Health is a nonprofit organization with more than 17,000 employees, 4,500 volunteers, and more than 1,200 employed primary care and specialty providers with multiple practice locations throughout Southwest Florida. The organization has four acute care hospitals and one specialty hospital that together house over 1,800 hospital beds.
About the Individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Fellowship:
This fellowship is a year of training for a primary care physician who wishes to specialize in the care of Individuals with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (IDD). This specialty fellow will develop competence in and be responsible for the delivery of age and specialty appropriate medical care through the process of assessment, evaluation, diagnosing, treatment, and follow-up. The selected fellow will perform responsibilities in four areas of practice clinician, teacher, leadership and professional development. They will possess and grow in their ability to collaborate with colleagues and other professional disciplines to ensure safe, effective, efficient and value-added patient centered care and the achievement of desired patient outcomes in this vulnerable patient population. They will continuously monitor quality patient care through excellence in customer service and performance improvement that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. They will have opportunity to develop leadership skills at the residency program level and throughout Lee Health.

The ideal candidate has a passion for providing care for individuals with intellectual disability and to lead a multidisciplinary team in providing wrap-around services for these patients and their families. They should possess excellent communication skills with patient, family, caregivers, multidisciplinary team members, medical staff members, and all employees. They should keep compassion, quality and safety in the forefront in the delivery of patient care, and leads the care team in the recognition and prevention of adverse events. They will participate/support the integrated continuum of care of patients within Lee Health/LPG.As part of their training, the fellow will also supervise family medicine residents in the GME Clinic and the Lee Memorial Hospital FSU inpatient medicine service, as well as in the pediatric/adult developmental clinic. While working with the developmental pediatrics and other clinical partners, they will perform responsibilities in a high-quality manner as a clinician, teacher, and leader.

Candidate Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Graduate of an accredited Residency Program as well as respective Board Certification (or Board Eligibility as appropriate)
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Florida, or ability to obtain this prior to start date
- Clear, unrestricted DEA
- Minimum 3 years' experience providing health care in international, resource-poor settings, demonstrated teaching and leadership experience with strong leadership potential
- Must comply with all ACGME core faculty requirements
