Secondary World Language Teacher

Position Summary

The District is seeking a qualified, student-centered educator to fill one Secondary Foreign Language teaching position beginning August 2026. This position may be structured as full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate's certification, experience, and ability to meet district programming needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to instructional excellence, cultural competency, and fostering global awareness for all students.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging, standards-aligned world language instruction for students in grades 6-12 (assignment based on certification and district need)
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to Michigan Academic Standards for World Languages
  • Promote language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening
  • Integrate cultural understanding and global perspectives into instruction
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Implement MTSS practices to support student achievement
  • Create a positive classroom culture that encourages communication and active participation
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Participate in district professional development and continuous improvement efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate world language endorsement (e.g., FF, FB, FC, etc., depending on language)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in language acquisition and proficiency-based instruction
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth

Preferred Qualifications

  • Dual certification highly preferred (e.g., additional endorsement in another secondary content area)
  • Ability to teach multiple levels or languages preferred
  • Experience teaching middle and/or high school world language
  • Experience working within an MTSS or PBIS framework
  • Familiarity with curriculum alignment and standards-based grading

Compensation

Salary and benefits per the Master Agreement (prorated if part-time).
