The last day to submit an application is March 13, 2026. Changing Patterns is a re-entry support organization that provides a healthy support system for those returning from prison in Deschutes County. We offer group & individual peer support with an opportunity for employment as a re-entry navigator once participants complete the program. One challenge with re-entry in Oregon is inconsistent access to resources depending on what county someone is released to. Because of the inconsistencies, many people fall through the cracks and wind up homeless and in poverty. There are several depressed rural counties that need support for services but do not have capacity to provide them. This project will streamline consistent re-entry connections throughout the state, connect organizations to encourage collaboration over competition, expose areas lacking resources and highlight the value of these services. The project aims to create safer communities with lower recidivism; stronger economies with ex-offenders successfully entering the workforce, and healthier families strengthened by reunification and social service supports from people with lived experience. We value applicants who can bring lived experience. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, Bend is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health! Bend is a fast-growing city nestled in rural Deschutes County. This offers the benefits and conveniences of a city with the opportunity to reach rural communities with limited access to resources.
