SECS Marketing & Career Intern

SECS Career & Life Design (CLD) is hiring a Marketing & Career Intern to develop marketing content that promotes SECS CLD events, services, and community engagement while supporting student career success.  This role blends hands-on marketing execution with student-facing career support.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who manages deadlines independently, creates high-quality design work, and communicates clearly through writing and digital content.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Write weekly and regular emails featuring up-to-date career trends, opportunities, and SECS CLD updates
  • Draft social captions, short-form video scripts, and promotional copy
  • Develop posters, banners and other graphics while following OU brand guidelines
  • Grow and energize the SECS CLD LinkedIn Group by encouraging participation and creating content prompts/series
  • Track and interpret performance metrics
  • Answer career related questions about resumes, job search and more, during drop-in appointments with SECS students in the Engineering Center 
  • Help students create and update their Handshake and LinkedIn profiles

     

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing skills for emails + captions/scripts
  • Reliable time management, responsibility, and ability to self-manage tasks
  • Strong understanding of social strategy and engagement
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn (LinkedIn Groups experience is a plus)
  • Knowledge of marketing practices and graphic design techniques
  • Experience using design software, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Google Docs
  • Outgoing and comfortable presenting in front of a group of students
  • Able to work up to 15 hours per week, which will include occasional evenings and weekends (Evenings and weekends are as needed, based on specific events that need support)
  • Current undergraduate student enrolled at Oakland University for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 semesters
