As a Public Relations Intern, you’ll help craft the stories that define Zoo Media’s voice across youth programs, creative initiatives, digital media projects, and community‑centered campaigns. You’ll gain hands‑on experience in media relations, brand messaging, and cross‑platform communication while supporting work that uplifts young creators and amplifies meaningful impact.
What You’ll Do
Media Relations & Outreach
- Draft press releases, pitch letters, media kits, and public statements
- Build and maintain media lists while developing relationships with journalists, influencers, and youth creators
- Support efforts to secure press coverage for Zoo Media initiatives, programs, and creative campaigns
- Assist in monitoring media mentions and preparing coverage reports
Cross‑Sector PR Strategy
- Collaborate with internal teams to position projects across youth development, entertainment, digital media, and innovation
- Identify compelling story angles that highlight mission‑driven work, creator impact, and community‑centered initiatives
- Help shape narratives that make Zoo Media’s programs newsworthy, accessible, and culturally relevant
- Support strategic messaging for creator partnerships, digital platforms, and youth‑focused initiatives
Brand Messaging & Reputation Support
- Assist in developing brand voice guidelines and messaging frameworks
- Learn the fundamentals of proactive and reactive reputation management
- Support communication strategies that ensure clarity, consistency, and trust across all channels
- Help maintain alignment between internal messaging and public‑facing communications
Events, Launches & Media Coordination
- Help plan and promote program launches, digital events, creator showcases, and community initiatives
- Coordinate interviews, livestreams, podcast appearances, and media opportunities
- Support logistics and communication for youth‑centered events and campaigns
- Assist in preparing talking points, run‑of‑show documents, and event briefs
Internal & External Communications
- Collaborate with social media, video, copywriting, and design teams to unify messaging across platforms
- Assist with newsletters, website copy, podcast scripts, and public‑facing communications
- Ensure Zoo Media’s storytelling remains inclusive, accessible, and mission‑aligned
- Contribute to communication workflows that support creators, partners, and stakeholders
What You’ll Learn

Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to think critically, manage deadlines, and pitch creative ideas
- Interest or coursework in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or branding
Availability for virtual meetings:
- Mondays @ 9:00 AM MST
- Wednesdays @ 10:00 AM MST
- Fridays @ 8:00 AM MST
