Our projects range from creative challenges and educational simulations to immersive digital experiences that teach real‑world skills through play.
We’re seeking a curious, technical, and imaginative Game Developer Intern to help build the next generation of interactive learning tools. You’ll work directly with designers, developers, and creative strategists to code gameplay systems, prototype mechanics, and integrate AI‑powered features that personalize user experience.
Whether you love Unity, Unreal, or building your own engine, this internship gives you the opportunity to design meaningful digital experiences that empower youth creators, student innovators, and emerging talent.
What You’ll Do
Gameplay & Systems Development
- Build gameplay systems, physics, logic, and user interfaces for interactive learning environments
- Translate design concepts into functional, engaging features
- Prototype mechanics that support educational objectives and creative exploration
- Contribute to systems that power Zoo Media’s youth‑centered, creator‑driven platforms
AI‑Enhanced Interactivity
- Integrate AI and machine learning modules into gameplay and simulation logic
- Support adaptive NPC behavior, automated testing, and personalized user interactions
- Experiment with LLM‑powered tools to enhance player engagement and narrative flow
- Explore AI‑driven systems that scale across multiple learning pathways
Multiplatform Development
- Develop features for desktop, mobile, browser‑based, and VR experiences
- Build code that supports collaborative or multiplayer learning scenarios
- Optimize performance across devices and platforms
- Contribute to cross‑platform pipelines for Zoo Media’s digital ecosystem
Testing, Debugging & Pipeline Support
- Test and debug features to ensure smooth, stable performance
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Zoo Media’s development pipeline
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams using Agile workflows
- Support documentation and version‑controlled development processes
You’ll Learn To
- Apply object‑oriented programming to real game architecture
- Use AI models to enhance gameplay, automate systems, and personalize learning
- Understand client‑server architecture for real‑time interactive environments
- Prototype educational gameplay loops based on real‑world skill development
- Balance performance with high‑fidelity features across devices
- Collaborate using Git, project management tools, and sprint cycles
Requirements
- Proficiency in at least one major game development language (C#, C++, Python, etc.)
- Familiarity with Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar tools
- Passion for interactive media, simulations, or emerging technology
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Engineering, Interactive Media, or a related field
Availability for weekly virtual meetings:
- Mondays @ 9:00 AM MST
- Wednesdays @ 10:00 AM MST
- Fridays @ 8:00 AM MST
- SkillBridge participants: Thursdays @ 9:00 AM MST
Bonus Skills (Not Required)
- Experience with multiplayer networking
- Integration of LLMs or AI APIs into game applications
- VR/AR development experience
- Familiarity with simulation logic or interactive learning systems
