Secondary Instructional Consultant (summers off) - Copper Country Intermediate School District - Hancock, Michigan

The Copper Country Intermediate School District is hiring a Secondary Instructional Consultant focused on Grades 6–12 Literacy and Social Studies in Hancock, Michigan.

This is a dynamic, people-centered role that blends coaching, consulting, and curriculum support. You’ll work directly with teachers, administrators, and regional teams to strengthen classroom practices and improve student outcomes. You’ll also play a key role in implementing new legislation, supporting MTSS frameworks, and delivering high-quality professional development.

WHAT WE OFFER.

  • $58,400 – $82,300 annual starting salary based on education and experience.
  • Health insurance, or if no health insurance is needed—-we’ll pay you $661.84/month instead.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING.

  • Support local districts with curriculum planning, instructional strategies, and assessment in secondary English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies.
  • Plan and deliver professional development for teachers, administrators, and other educational partners as needed.
  • Collaborate with our Instructional Services and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) teams to align efforts and maximize impact.
  • Provide guidance on dyslexia legislation implementation and support districts in assessing needs and integrating MTSS frameworks.
  • Analyze classroom, school, and regional data to inform instructional decisions and identify areas for growth.
  • Provide training and support with implementation of core instructional programs as needed.
  • Travel across the Upper Peninsula and lower Michigan as required for meetings and workshops related to school improvement, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Attend meetings outside of normal working hours as needed.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • Master’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
  • Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate required.
  • 5 or more years of teaching experience required; preferably in both ELA and Social Studies.
  • Deep understanding of state standards, disciplinary literacy, and best practices in instruction and assessment.
  • Experience working within a MTSS framework.
  • Ability to use data from a variety of tools to inform instruction and improve student success.
  • Familiarity and success using formative, interim, and summative assessments.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and willingness to travel to meetings/conferences is required.
