Key Responsibilities
The ARC Lab Intern will play an active role in supporting the day-to-day operations and innovation efforts within the Immersive Showcase Lab. Responsibilities include:
- Setup, configuration, and maintenance of AR/VR systems and related software
- Setup and execution of immersive AR demonstrations for visitors and events
- Collaborating with ARC team members and industry partners to develop AR demos and applications
- Assisting in the creation of engaging, hands-on immersive learning experiences
- Supporting mobile augmented reality solutions using ARCore and similar platforms
- Developing interactive simulations, including guided and step-by-step procedural experiences using modern game engines
- Troubleshooting hardware and debugging/optimizing software systems
- Conducting software testing to ensure stability, performance, and usability
- Documenting technical workflows, system configurations, and project outcomes
- Scheduling, organizing, and reporting on lab activities and project progress
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong programming skills with an emphasis on object-oriented programming
- Demonstrated knowledge of Java and XML
- Familiarity with software testing methodologies and debugging practices
- Understanding of database implementation, software interfaces, and communication protocols
- Experience or interest in AR/VR technologies, game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine or Unity), and immersive systems
- Ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software issues
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ARCore, Unity, or Unreal Engine
- Prior experience with immersive technology projects or demonstrations
- Interest in human-computer interaction, computer vision, or interactive design
