Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Job Summary: We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support defect prevention initiatives within our manufacturing operations. This role will focus on designing and implementing simple poka-yoke (error-proofing) tools and process improvements to prevent defective parts from reaching the customer. The intern will work closely with Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve reliability, consistency, and operator efficiency. 


Job Duties and Responsibilities:    

  • Identify processes steps with risk of defect escape.
  • Design and prototype simple fixtures, guides, and poka-yoke tools
  • Support implementation of low-cost error-proofing solutions on the production floor.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of recurring defects.
  • Collaborate with operators to understand pain points and improve ergonomics.
  • Support validation and documentation of implemented solutions.
  • Analyze quality and production data to prioritize improvement opportunities.

Coordinates With: Lead Center Management Team, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Human Resources, Vendors, Customers and other external parties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or related field).
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and lean principles. 
  • Interest in process improvement and hands-on problem solving. 
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to develop practical, low-cost solutions to manufacturing solutions.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
