Tooling Machinist Intern

Job Summary: We are seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Tooling–Machinist Intern to support the production tooling needs of our gasket manufacturing operations. This internship provides exposure to machining, fabrication, tool maintenance, die-making, and support for automated cutting and molding processes. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and excited to work with precision tools and production equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:    

  • Assist in the machining, fabrication, and repair of dies, molds, cutting tools, fixtures, and jigs used in gasket manufacturing.
  • Support CNC and manual machining operations including milling, turning, grinding, drilling, and surface finishing.
  • Help maintain and sharpen steel rule dies, rotary dies, and other cutting components.
  • Support troubleshooting of tooling issues on die‑cutting presses, CNC cutting tables, and compression molding equipment.
  • Perform quality checks on machined parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff on tooling design improvements for better durability, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Help prepare materials, set up machines, and organize tooling inventory.
  • Follow all safety protocols related to machining equipment and shop operations.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in high school or a vocational school program and will be enrolled through the Fall of 2026. 
  • Basic understanding of machine operations (CNC and manual).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in machining, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
  • Effective communication skills and willingness to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
