Product Engineering Intern
Position Summary
The Product Engineering Intern will support the development, launch, and continuous improvement of automotive interior plastic components and kinematic assemblies. This role provides hands‑on experience across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and program management, with exposure to real production environments and customer programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in engineering activities for interior plastics and kinematic mechanisms, including design reviews, issue tracking, and documentation updates.
• Support BOM audits, part number creation, and ERP BOM management to ensure accuracy and configuration control.
• Execute and document engineering change requests, part number revisions, and drawing updates.
• Provide support during manufacturing trials, tool tryouts, and build events; capture findings and help develop corrective actions.
• Assist in creating and updating work instructions, standard operating procedures, and trial reports.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, including root cause analysis, dimensional reviews, and validation support.
• Provide administrative and technical support to Program Managers and Account Managers, including timing updates, meeting minutes, and customer documentation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment between engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality.
Qualifications
Required:
• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• Basic understanding of CAD tools (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Interest in automotive interiors, plastics, or mechanical systems.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred:
• Exposure to injection molding, plastics design, or kinematic assemblies.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Plex, etc.).
• Understanding of GD&T, engineering documentation, or FMEA processes.
• Prior internship or project experience in manufacturing or product development.
