College Intern, Neighborhood Services

SALARY: $20.06 to $25.41, Undergraduate Level
$26.78 to $32.13, Graduate Level
This position is expected to work an average of 20-29 hours per week onsite (or in office). The anticipated duration of this internship is approximately 6 to 12 months, but may end earlier or be extended depending on department needs.
DESCRIPTION/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researches and identifies relevant grants and funding opportunities that align with the department’s goals and objectives, reviews requirements, eligibility, and deadlines for timely submissions, and assists in preparing proposals
- Assists with budget-related tasks, such as expenditure tracking and forecasting
- Conducts research and data analysis, prepares and presents reports, and provides recommendations
- Prepares materials such as charts, graphics, maps, and illustrations for presentations and reports
- Leads and participates in department and division meetings effectively
- May provide administrative and project-related support at various departmental locations, as needed
- Analyzes and prepares recommendations related to process efficiency
- Establishes positive working relationships with City employees, outside agencies, and the public

- Proficient in research techniques, survey methods, data collection, and analysis

- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills with internal employees in a professional and timely manner
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for managing information, preparing memos, and communicating with team members; experienced in utilizing third-party databases and platforms, such as but not limited to Smartsheet and GIS software, to input and update data accurately, and design program content
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise professional judgment, and conduct oneself ethically
- Reliable team player who works well independently and collaboratively, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to various work dynamics
- The ability to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and documents weighing up to 25 pounds
