Communications Intern

Summer 2026 Communications Intern


The Communications Intern will support Future Caucus press operations and contribute substantially to our Young Lawmakers’ Storybank, a vital tool for helping target audiences connect with the stories and impact of Gen Z and millennial legislators across the country.

 

This is a hybrid position based out of Washington, D.C. for June - August 2026. Location in Washington, D.C. for the summer is required.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Proposing, designing, and conducting interviews with young lawmakers
  • Drafting blog narratives and articles for the Future Caucus website
  • Assist day-to-day media relations, such as by building and updating media lists; tracking and measuring earned media coverage of the Future Caucus network; and producing talking points, memos, news releases and media advisories, statements, and other public relations materials as needed
  • Other related duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills required
  • Journalism experience and knowledge of AP style preferred
  • Superb attention to detail and an ability to produce error-free work on deadline
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for effective interaction with colleagues, lawmakers, and media
  • Strong commitment to bridging the partisan divide in US politics
  • Knowledge of US local, state, and/or national politics
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity

 

About Future Caucus

Future Caucus is a nonprofit organization seeking qualified interns to take on significant responsibility and work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. Interns will work at a high level with Future Caucus’ staff out of our Washington, DC office. Internship applications are accepted on a rolling basis, we are currently hiring for the Summer 2026 semester (June - August 2026). This is a hybrid position based out of Washington, D.C.  Location in Washington, D.C. for the summer is required.

  • Current undergraduate student at an accredited institution
  • Passion for Gen Z & Millennials in politics and/or future-focused ideas  
  • Hardworking, entrepreneurial spirit

  • Strong research and writing skills  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility
