Job Summary
The Policy Team at the Ellison Medical Institute is seeking a highly motivated intern with strong quantitative and policy research skills to support a strategic research initiative at the intersection of health policy and real-world data. This internship is ideal for someone with expertise in health policy, epidemiology and/or biostatistics, with the potential for co-authorship on a publication.
Job Accountabilities
With mentorship from the Policy Team, the research intern will be responsible for performing the following job duties:
- Conduct secondary literature reviews on emerging health policy topics, particularly related to health information technologies and health data.
- Contribute to the planning and interpretation of real-world evidence studies using data from Oracle’s electronic health records (EHR) real-world data (OERWD).
- Serve as liaison between the policy team and data science team with a strong foundation in epidemiology/biostatistics, supporting analyses on OERWD.
- Advise on epidemiologic and biostatistical modeling to guide the direction of analyses and policy recommendations.
Additional Information
Required Education and Experience
- Current enrollment in MPH or MS program with a concentration in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Quantitative Methods, Health Policy, or related fields.
- Familiarity with epidemiologic modeling; ability to interpret and advise on biostatistical analyses.
- Demonstrated experience with literature reviews and policy analysis.
- Experience working with real-world healthcare data.
- Strong critical thinking skills and comfort working across both quantitative and qualitative domains.
- Ability to operate independently and execute deliverables in a timely manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Commitment and Hourly Rate
- Be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the 12-week internship.
- Work duties will be performed in a flexible hybrid mode (remote and on-site schedules). Must be based in the Los Angeles area and must provide their own housing.
- Pay: $24-$27 hourly, DOE.
