Tioga County SWCD Engineering Internship
The engineering intern will support the implementation and management of engineering projects throughout Tioga County and the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The intern will work closely with the Tioga County Soil and Water Conservation District (TCSWCD) engineers.
Intern tasks will include:
· Perform tasks associated with construction implementation, including the planning, design, installation of agricultural, stream, or wetland construction projects;
· Assist engineer in site surveys;
· Execute engineering designs in AutoCAD/Carlson software;
· Assist engineer in construction inspections.
Qualifications include: Extensive AutoCAD experience, able to read and explain detailed construction drawings, good verbal communication skills, valid NYS Driver’s License with reliable transportation, ability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor setting, flexibility to occasionally work weekend hours, and interest in engineering, survey, and environment.
Supervision/Location: Interns will be based at the Tioga County Soil and Water Conservation District office (in-person required). The interns will be supervised by TCSWCD manager and engineers.
Schedule: This internship position is full time (40 hours per week) beginning in May and ending in the fall, with a potential for extension. Interns may adjust their schedule as needed to accommodate for time off, pending approval from Distrcit Manager. Weekend work may be required, but will likely be seldom.
Travel: Travel will be limited to within the Susquehanna River Watershed. Travel may not be limited to day trips. Interns may have to use their personal vehicle to travel to site locations, and will be reimbursed for mileage, for all work purposes.
