PUB SUMMER LEAD RESIDENTIAL PEER MENTOR
PURPOSE:
Perform all duties of a Peer Mentor and Substitute in the absence of the Head Resident
DATES: Mandatory Training: June 12-20, 2026 Summer Academy: June 14-August 5, 2026 (Excludes 7/3-7/4) WORK (end date may vary)
DAYS: Sunday 6 pm - Friday 6:30 pm. Weekdays on call before 3 pm/Active duty at meal breaks & after 3 pm
SUPERVISOR: Head Resident
POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 1
COMPENSATION: $17/hr (training included) + Room & Board, Group Travel, and Field Trip Admission Fees
MINIMUM PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Perform the duties of HR relevant to the time during which the HR is absent. (Ex: Conduct the nightly meeting if the HR is absent at the time that the nightly meeting normally takes place.)
- Participate in mandatory training. Live in the designated hall from training through the Summer Academy.
- Establish/maintain positive, respectful, and appropriate mentoring relationships w/PUB Scholars.
- Develop, implement, and supervise recreational and social activities.
- Supervise Scholars on all field trips. (Peer Mentor inclusion on the extended trip is performance-based.)
- Establish positive relationships with parents and other primary caretakers of PUB Scholars.
- Uphold team duty roster responsibilities.
- Facilitate activities that increase group cohesion, address concerns, and promote open communication.
- Attend and assist in planning and implementing weekly dorm meetings, including Star Ceremony.
- Clarify, monitor, and enforce Project policies/procedures, especially as related to student conduct.
- Train and supervise peer (Scholar) mediation teams. Serve on Residential Mediation Team.
- Conduct fire drills, tornado drills, building and room inspections, key and ID checks/check-in/check-out.
- Monitor visitor access and participant movement in and out of the building and between floors.
- Participate in nightly/daily updates, weekly team meetings, and weekly team training sessions.
- Track and report participant points. Prepare weekly Scholar behavior reports for the Director.
- Develop working relationships with the Academic Mentors.
- Assure that participants complete classwork in the dorm when assigned.
- Plan and facilitate Family Day recreational activities.
- Participate in weekly performance evaluations and make the recommended performance improvements
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head Resident or a Project Administrator.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- Previous Satisfactory performance as a PUB Peer Mentor
- Familiarity with the role and responsibilities of the Head Resident
