Office Assistant - Full-time
About the Role
Join our team! The City of Kentwood is seeking a full-time Office Assistant to support daily operations at the Kentwood Activities Center (KAC) within our Parks and Recreation Department. In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for residents and visitors, helping create a welcoming, organized, and positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
From assisting with program registrations and facility rentals to supporting events and day-to-day office operations, you’ll play an important role in keeping things running smoothly. Our ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
What You’ll Do
- Provide excellent customer service in person, over the phone, and via email
- Serve as the front desk point of contact, greeting visitors and assisting with inquiries
- Process program registrations, memberships, and facility reservations
- Handle daily financial transactions, including cash, credit card, and check payments
- Balance registers and support daily financial procedures
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, reports, correspondence, and recordkeeping
- Prepare materials for programs, meetings, and facility use (work orders, rosters, sign-in sheets)
- Support recreation programs, events, and facility operations as needed
- Maintain inventory of office and program supplies and place orders as needed
- Receive and distribute mail and packages
- Conduct routine facility walk-throughs and report maintenance or cleanliness concerns
- Help maintain accurate records and support compliance-related documentation
About You
You’re a customer-focused professional who enjoys helping others and keeping things organized behind the scenes. You’re comfortable juggling multiple tasks, learning new systems, and working both independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of office support or customer service experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion

Pay and Benefits
Hourly pay range: $20.49–$26.18, depending on experience
The City of Kentwood offers a competitive compensation package and excellent benefits, including:
