Engineering Intern
Purpose of the job
The Engineering and Quality Intern will support ongoing projects and daily operations, contributing to the team’s objectives while gaining exposure to company processes, culture, and industry best practices. Through collaboration, research, and hands-on assignments, the intern will develop professional skills, broaden their understanding of the organization, and explore potential career paths within the company.
Key responsibilities
- Support Process Improvement Initiatives: Assist in identifying, analyzing, and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production operations.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze operational, process, or equipment data to support troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and reporting.
- Assist with Equipment and System Maintenance: Help with inspections, testing, calibration, and basic maintenance of machinery, instrumentation, or control systems under supervision.
- Participate in Safety and Quality Audits: Support safety, quality, and environmental compliance efforts by participating in audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Aid in developing, updating, or reviewing technical documentation, work instructions, and SOPs for manufacturing processes or equipment.
- Support Project Engineering Activities: Assist in planning, executing, and monitoring small-scale engineering projects or trials, including preparing project documentation and tracking progress.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing Tools: Participate in applying lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., 5S, root cause analysis, value stream mapping).
- Troubleshoot Process or Equipment Issues: Work with engineers and technicians to help identify and resolve operational problems with equipment, instrumentation, or manufacturing processes.
- Assist with New Equipment Commissioning: Support the installation, start-up, and commissioning of new or upgraded equipment, including collecting data and verifying proper operation.

Contribute to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Programs: Participate in EHS initiatives, such as hazard identification, sustainability projects, or ergonomic assessments.
Level of autonomy
The Intern will work under close supervision and is expected to seek guidance and approval from the manager before making independent decisions. Autonomy is limited due to the temporary and developmental nature of the role.
Job requirements
Educational Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering
- Completed 2+ full years at a 4-year university
- 3.0 GPA or above (cumulative)
Relevant Experience:
Previous internship or part-time work experience is an advantage but not required.
Required Skills:
- Resides commutable distance to Warsaw, IN in Summer 2026 without relocating
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Good organizational and time management abilities.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- High level of motivation and willingness to learn.
