OpenShift Platform Engineer

Role Name: OpenShift Platform Engineer
Location: Irving, TX
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 per annum

Job Description:

The OpenShift Platform Engineer is an entry-level role designed for fresh graduates to build strong foundational knowledge in container platforms and cloud-native application deployment. The candidate will receive structured training and hands-on experience in Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices while working under the guidance of senior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Training & Learning

  • Participate in structured training covering:
    • Container fundamentals (Docker, images, containers)
    • Kubernetes & OpenShift basics (pods, services, deployments)
    • OpenShift architecture and components
    • Linux fundamentals
    • CI/CD concepts and DevOps workflows
    • SDLC and Agile practices
  • Learn tools like Git and platform governance basics

2. OpenShift Platform Operations

  • Assist in deploying applications on OpenShift under guidance
  • Support configuration of namespaces, deployments, and services
  • Monitor application health, logs, and usage
  • Understand how applications are deployed and scaled

3. DevOps & Automation Exposure

  • Assist in CI/CD pipeline execution and deployments
  • Learn Infrastructure as Code (IaC) basics
  • Support simple automation tasks

4. Quality, Security & Reliability

  • Follow standard operating procedures
  • Learn basic security practices (access, secrets, image hygiene)
  • Assist in identifying and fixing issues

5. Collaboration & Development

  • Work with platform and DevOps teams
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint reviews)
  • Document learnings and basic processes

6. Professional Expectations

  • Follow enterprise security and compliance policies
  • Adhere to change management and platform usage guidelines
  • Demonstrate learning attitude and adaptability

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Recent graduate (Bachelors) in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field
  • Basic understanding of Linux, networking, or software concepts
  • Interest in Cloud, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
  • Good communication and willingness to learn
