Marketing Intern

Market Information Management System (MIMS) Tool Rebuild Intern

Role Overview

This internship offers the opportunity to lead the rebuild of AkzoNobel’s Market Information Management System (MIMS), a searchable database housing project intelligence by region, state, and city. The current tool, built in Microsoft Access, is outdated; the intern will be responsible for fully rebuilding the database in either Access or, more likely, as an advanced Excel tool. The project directly supports sales enablement and business growth by enhancing the accessibility and utility of market data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rebuild and relaunch the MIMS database tool for the sales team using Access or advanced Excel functionality.
  • Ensure the new tool is user-friendly, robust, and scalable for future business needs.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales stakeholders to understand requirements and test the tool.
  • Support other marketing projects as assigned (e.g., collateral rebranding).

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • MUST BE LOCATED A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE TO HOUSTON, TX
  • MUST HAVE advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Access (ability to build sophisticated databases/tools in Excel or Access with minimal supervision).
  • Completed at least 2 years of Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Data Analytics, or related
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage a challenging technical project independently.

Success Measures

  • Fully delivered and functional MIMS database tool, successfully relaunched to the sales team.
  • Improved speed and accuracy of market data search and reporting.
