Security Governance Intern

Position Overview: Inovalon is seeking an undergraduate college sophomore or junior student with a diverse academic background to join our Summer Internship Program this year. As a Security Governance, Risk and Compliance technical intern, you will support our Security Governance, Security Risk Management, Business Continuity Program, and Technology Compliance teams with the goal of enhancing your educational experience through practical, on-the-job learning, assignments, and projects. This summer internship will be remote and available at the Bowie, MD location as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hands on experience to support the Security Governance/Strategy teams with day-to-day work that covers various activities across the department;
- Lead or assist in the completion of projects, artifacts and/or process improvements for all the programs, as assigned;
- Participate in departmental and/or staff meetings and provide updates to the team as needed;
- Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement;
- Conduct risk assessments, provide consultation, and follow up with the teams as needed;
- Support in creating leadership presentations and communication as well as Cybersecurity awareness materials;
- Adhere to confidentiality and audit regulations and requirements as outlined within Inovalon’s Operating Policies and Procedures; and
- Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company.

- Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities and daily requests;
- Ability to interact in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner;
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment;
- Ability to prepare and present project(s), risks and gap findings with internal stakeholders including leadership, technical team members and business leaders;
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office365, Outlook, SharePoint, and web-browsers;
- Possession of excellent critical thinking and analytical skills;
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality;
- Strong interpersonal skills including written communication and verbal communication skills; and
- Preferred academic exposure to programs such as risk management, audit/compliance, cybersecurity, security governance or similar technical programs.
Education:
- Must have sophomore or junior student status in a degreed program at an accredited college/university;
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Security, National Security, Risk Management or related field of study at an accredited college/university;
- Must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA;
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Sedentary work (i.e., sitting for long periods of time), exerting up to 5 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
- Subject to inside environmental conditions;
- Travel for this position will include less than 5% locally, usually for training purposes.
