Volunteer Mentor “Big”
About the role:
Somewhere in southeast Michigan, a kid is waiting for their Big. Over 70 children in our region have applied for mentorship and haven’t been matched yet. The majority are boys. They are not waiting for a tutor or a counselor, they’re waiting for a consistent adult who will simply show up. As a Big, you’ll spend an hour or two twice a month with your Little doing whatever makes sense for your pair. Grab food, see a game, go for a walk, help with homework; The activity matters less than the consistency.
What We Ask:
- 1 year minimum commitment
- An hour or two twice a month
- Background check
- Completion of our online training (done at your pace)
What We Provide:
- Careful, thoughtful matching based on interests, location, and availability
- Ongoing support from a dedicated Match Support Specialist
- Community with other Bigs across Southeast MI
You don’t need a degree, experience in education, or a specific background. You just need to be 18 or older, reliable, and genuinely interested in being present for a kid who needs it. Apply using the link below!
