Backend Product Engineering Intern
About Quikturn
Quikturn is a company intelligence and data platform for investment banking, private equity, consulting, product, and development teams. We aggregate and structure data across private and public markets (companies, investments, and deals) and make it usable where analysts work. Our web app and PowerPoint add-in turn that data into clean, formatted slides like tombstones, comp pages, and league tables in seconds instead of hours. Our API, TypeScript and React SDKs, and MCP server let developers and AI agents pull company data and brand assets straight into their own products.
We are a small founding team moving fast and closing our first enterprise deals. Interns here are more employee than intern; owning real surface area, shipping to production, and working directly with the founders.
The role
You will work across the services that power Quikturn: the core API, the company intelligence pipeline that turns raw sources into structured data on private and public companies, investments, and deals, the search and brand asset processing pipelines, and the edge delivery layer. This is backend product engineering, not infra for its own sake. You will build things customers and developers use. We work with leverage, so you will orchestrate autonomous agents to plan, write, and review code, and own the judgment about what ships.
What you'll work on
- Orchestrating autonomous developer agents (Claude Code and similar) across the codebase: scoping the work, directing agents to implement it, and reviewing what they ship
- API endpoints and business logic in Node.js, TypeScript, and Express, backed by MySQL/Sequelize
- Our company intelligence pipeline: crawling, structured extraction across private and public markets, embedding generation, and vector storage
- Async processing with Bull and Redis (data enrichment, logo conversion, indexing sync, batch jobs)
- Fast, typo-tolerant search and retrieval with Typesense
- Edge delivery on Cloudflare Workers and R2: caching, rate limits, quotas, on-the-fly image transformations
- Possible exposure to our Rust services if you are interested in going lower level
What we're looking for
- Comfortable shipping in TypeScript/Node; you have built and deployed something real, not just coursework
- Solid grasp of HTTP APIs, relational data modeling, and async/queue patterns
- You read docs and debug carefully instead of guessing
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience directing AI coding agents or agentic workflows
- Experience with Cloudflare Workers, Redis, or a search engine (Typesense, Elastic, Meili)
- Any exposure to data pipelines, web crawling, or LLM-based extraction (without leaning on “AI” as a crutch)
- Any exposure to Rust, or an interest in learning it
- Interest in how finance, consulting, product, and development team’s work
Info
- Type: Semi-paid internship
- Eligibility: Open to current undergraduate students only (no graduate school/masters seeking students)
- Location: Remote, or hybrid in NYC
- Compensation: Intern revenue-split compensation pool
- Duration: Through July / August 2026, with potential option to extend as part-time during school year
