Senior Deputy Chief Investment Officer

The Senior Deputy Chief Investment Officer will assist the Senior Chief Investment Officer (CIO) with providing investment management for over $121 billion in State of Michigan Retirement System (SMRS) pension fund assets and approximately $53 billion in additional State trust and agency funds’ assets, on behalf of the State Treasurer and various State agencies, for a total of $174 billion in assets under management. This position will provide portfolio strategies and policies, operational risk management, oversee strategic partnerships and complex deal structuring, and oversee operational due diligence processes, personnel matters, budgeting operations, and building operations.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelor s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, real estate management/financing, or a related field

OR

Possession of a bachelor s degree in any major and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), or Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation.

Experience
One year of professional investment, financial and/or economic administration experience equivalent to a Senior Director of Investments 19 OR three years of experience equivalent to a Senior Investment Manager 18.
