Junior Accountant
Nature of Work
Maintain Accounts Payable duties and tasks, while supporting Controller with important day-to-day financial operations. Jr. Accountant analyzes financial statements and balance sheet for accuracy. Jr. Accountant refers to Controller for any financial matters, while addressing and working to resolve all A/P problems.
Duties and Task Statements:
- Performs all duties of Accounts Payable Clerk
- Maintains Company Asset Log and Depreciation
- Assign asset numbers
- Take Pictures of the asset/with asset number
- Maintain Asset Log
- Maintain Depreciation Forecast Schedule
- Post Standard Journal Entries Monthly
- Reconcile various Balance sheet accounts
- Maintain schedules for select Balance sheet accounts
- Review Expense accounts
- Monitor for accuracy
- Monitor for extraordinary items
- Prepare Business Property Statements
- File returns, online, timely on California Department of Tax and Fee Administration site
- Environmental Fee
- Lumber Assessment
- Occupational Lead Poisoning
- Reviews financial guidelines and procedures to ensure the business is following the proper state and federal regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Formal Interaction with others:
Because Junior Accountants interact with multiple staff members, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively is beneficial to a productive individual. Phone conversations, written communication via email and formal letters, as well as in-person meetings all require the Junior accountant to have the ability to convey their ideas, concerns and solutions.
Work Environment:
The work setting consists of an office environment with adequate lighting, suitable temperatures and a moderate noise level.
