Are you passionate about software development, data analysis, and solving real-world scientific problems? At the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), you'll work alongside engineers and scientists developing advanced software tools that support cutting-edge defense research.

Our team develops software and analytical models that help predict how weather and the atmosphere affect technologies such as radar systems, radio frequency communications, directed energy, and laser systems. You'll have the opportunity to apply your programming skills to meaningful projects that directly support the U.S. Navy and national defense.

What You'll Do

As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will:

  • Develop software tools used for scientific data analysis and visualization
  • Design and implement algorithms to process large and complex datasets
  • Translate mathematical and scientific concepts into software solutions
  • Develop and optimize Python and MATLAB applications
  • Support research involving atmospheric science, meteorology, radio frequency propagation, and directed energy systems
  • Test, validate, and debug software applications
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and technical experts across multiple disciplines
  • Contribute ideas that improve existing tools and develop new analytical capabilities

Preferred Skills

Experience with some of the following is preferred:
