Plant/Vertebrate Molecular Biology Lab Assistant

The Plant/Vertebrate Molecular Biology Lab at Oakland University is seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join the team.  An assistant position is available for the Fall 2026 / Winter 2027 academic year.  Our lab uses molecular biology and genomics techniques such as PCR, RT-PCR, CRISPR-Cas9, mammalian cell culture, and RNAseq, and we work with both plants and animals.  This opportunity is ideal for students seeking hands-on research experience, including presenting scientific data at conferences.  Please ensure you have a FEDERAL WORK-STUDY (FWS) award to be eligible to apply.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

Maintain lab cleanliness and organization

Prepare buffers, reagents, and other materials for experiments

Initially, assistance with various molecular and genomics techniques while being trained.  

Support graduate students and the PI in routine laboratory experiements.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Previous lab experience is helpful but not necessary.

Attention to detail, dependability, and eagerness to learn.
