Job Title: Technical Assistant (Part-Time)
Schedule: ONSITE 4.0 Hours per Day | Monday – Friday (Daytime hours with some flexibility)
Reports to: Technology Assistant Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and service-oriented Technical Assistant to serve as the first line of defense for our building’s technology infrastructure. In this role, you will ensure that our systems run smoothly so that teachers can teach and students can learn without digital interruptions. You will be the "face of IT" for your building, requiring a blend of technical troubleshooting and exceptional customer service.
Core Responsibilities
- User Support & Customer Service: Act as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries, guiding teachers, students, and staff through solutions with patience and clarity.
- Tier 1 Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues involving desktops, laptops, projectors, interactive whiteboards, VoIP systems, and mobile devices.
- Ticketing & Documentation: Manage and resolve incoming support tickets, ensuring all issues are tracked and closed in a timely manner.
- Equipment Lifecycle: Set up, configure, and install new technology assets. Assist the Building Technician with hardware moves, adds, and changes.
- Inventory Management: Maintain a precise and up-to-date inventory of all building technology assets.
- Collaboration: Participate in monthly technology department meetings to stay current on system updates and contribute to team-wide improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Aptitude: Strong foundational knowledge of Windows/ChromeOS/macOS and common classroom peripherals.
- Communication: Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users in a helpful, professional manner.
- Organization: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple "walk-up" requests alongside a formal ticketing queue.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a high-energy school environment and performing "other duties as assigned" to support the tech team.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Mobility: Ability to move frequently throughout the building to provide on-site support in various classrooms and offices.
- Lifting & Carrying: Ability to safely lift, carry, and move technology equipment (such as monitors, desktop computers, and printers) weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Dexterity: Manual dexterity to handle small components, plug in cables in tight spaces, and use basic hand tools for equipment assembly.
- Stamina: Capability to spend extended periods standing, walking, or bending (e.g., crawling under desks to manage cabling or reaching to adjust wall-mounted projectors).
