Position Type:
Paid Internship / Part-Time Internship / Potential Long-Term Role

Compensation:
$15.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on experience, portfolio, reliability, and availability.

Schedule:
Flexible, approximately 8–20 hours per week. Some work must be completed on-site at our Stevens Point office. Remote editing work may be available after trust, workflow, and confidentiality expectations are established.

We are looking for a motivated student, intern, or emerging media professional to help us build professional video, podcast, training, recruiting, and public-accountability content.

This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in video production, documentary storytelling, podcasting, journalism, criminal justice, civil rights, public policy, law enforcement accountability, legal systems, and professional investigations.

Position Summary:
The Digital Media & Investigative Content Intern will assist Bright Line Investigations with recording, editing, organizing, and producing professional media content. Projects may include investigator training videos, company profile videos, short-form social media clips, podcast pilot material, recruiting videos, office and equipment videos, public education content, and documentary-style storytelling projects.

The ideal candidate is creative, dependable, discreet, technically capable, and interested in meaningful real-world storytelling.

Primary Duties:
Record interviews with the owner, investigators, staff, interns, and professional partners.

Assist with camera setup, lighting, microphones, audio recording, and basic production planning.

Film office, conference room, document, training, equipment, and behind-the-scenes B-roll.

Edit short videos for LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and company use.

Help develop podcast pilot material and interview-based content.

Create short clips from longer interviews, training sessions, presentations, and professional updates.

Organize video, audio, photos, transcripts, graphics, raw footage, and release-ready files.

Assist with media projects related to private investigation, criminal defense support, public records, civil rights, government accountability, and investigative education.

Maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive legal, investigative, client, business, and unreleased media materials.

Investigator training videos.

Bright Line recruitment and internship videos.

Founder and company profile videos.

Short educational videos explaining investigative work.

Podcast pilot development.

Public-accountability storytelling projects.

Office, vehicle, scanner, camera, and surveillance-equipment content.

Conference, speaking, award-recognition, and professional-development media.

Media content supporting Wisconsin-based public policy and civil rights education.

Preferred Qualifications:
Current student, recent graduate, or emerging professional in media studies, communication, journalism, film, video production, digital media, marketing, criminal justice, political science, public policy, or a related field.

Experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, Descript, Audition, or similar programs.

Basic understanding of camera operation, lighting, and audio recording.

Ability to edit short-form social media clips.

Interest in documentary storytelling, legal issues, public accountability, criminal justice, or investigative work.

Strong judgment, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Reliable, organized, and able to meet deadlines.

Comfortable working with sensitive subject matter.

Helpful But Not Required:
Podcast editing experience.

Photography experience.

Drone experience or interest in drone footage.

Graphic design or motion graphics experience.

Social media content strategy experience.

Interviewing or journalism experience.

Interest in law, criminal defense, civil rights, government accountability, or public records.

Work Environment:
Work will be based primarily at Bright Line Investigations’ office in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The office includes professional interview spaces, a conference room, office settings, and investigative/business materials suitable for video production and storytelling. Some remote editing may be available after initial onboarding.

Because Bright Line Investigations works on legal, investigative, client, and sensitive business matters, the selected intern must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement and follow strict internal policies regarding client information, case materials, recordings, documents, and unreleased media.
