OUWB Lecture Recording Assistant

Position Description

  • The students in this position will be responsible for the recording of lectures using the Panopto video recording system. Additionally, the students will serve as initial technical support to the lecturers. This is a paid position.


Duties for the Position

  • First lecture of the day
    • Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of lecture to open the room
    • Turn on the computer, projector/sound system, and start the Panopto recording software
  • Other lectures
    • Arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of lecture
  • Every lecture
    • Greet the lecturer and assist in moving the presentation file to the computer’s desktop
    • (As necessary) Instruct the lecturer on how to advance slides and use the pointer
    • Ensure the microphone has ample battery power and instruct the lecturer on placement of the microphone
    • Start the Panopto recording and make sure the microphone is on
    • End the Panopto recording and ensure the file is uploaded to the server
  • During lecture
    • Assist the lecturer as needed
  • Last lecture of the day
    • Turn off the microphone, computer, and projector/sound system at the end of the lecture
  • Miscellaneous
    • If a session file has been updated by the lecturer, try to obtain an updated copy and send the file to the course coordinator to be uploaded to Moodle
    • If the software/hardware fails and you cannot troubleshoot it, notify OUWB Technology Support
    • Communicate any technical issues with the room to the OUWB Technology Support
       

Required Skills

  • Comfortable operating and basic troubleshooting Macintosh Computers
  • Comfortable working with PowerPoint or Google Drive files
  • Willingness to learn Panopto software and classroom equipment
  • Responds quickly to emails
