SEHS Social Media Coordinator

Minimum Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience creating, managing and publishing content for organizational or professional social media accounts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of social media best practices, emerging trends and audience engagement strategies
  • Basic photography, videography and graphic design skills, including experience with a DSLR or mirrorless camera and familiarity with Adobe Express and/or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines


 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience managing social media accounts for a university, college, school, nonprofit organization, business or other professional setting
  • Experience with social media analytics, scheduling and publishing tools
  • Advanced photography, videography and editing skills, including experience with Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro or similar software
  • Experience conducting interviews and developing content featuring students, alumni, faculty and staff
  • Knowledge of social media accessibility best practices, including captions, alt text and accessible graphic design


 

Job Duties

  • Create, plan and publish engaging social media content — including photos, videos, graphics, Stories and Reels — that highlights SEHS students, programs, events, faculty, alumni and accomplishments
  • Manage day-to-day social media content planning and maintain a content calendar in alignment with SEHS communications and marketing strategy
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff and departments across SEHS to identify and develop stories and content opportunities, including interviews and promotion of events, programs and initiatives
  • Attend SEHS events and activities to capture photos, video and real-time content
  • Engage with followers by monitoring and responding to comments, questions and messages in a timely and professional manner
  • Monitor social media trends and performance analytics to identify opportunities to improve engagement and reach
  • Ensure social media content follows Oakland University brand standards and accessibility best practices
  • Serve as an active member of the SEHS Retention, Marketing and Enrollment Committee
  • Assist with other communications and marketing projects as needed
