About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Secretary to support an IEEE Standards committee and its ongoing standards development activities.
This is a good opportunity for a graduate student, PhD, recent graduate interested in IEEE, technology standards, AI/software engineering, governance, or international technical collaboration.
The Secretary will work closely with the Committee Chair and other senior IEEE members. The role provides direct exposure to how international technical standards are developed and how IEEE working groups and committees operate.
Responsibilities
The Secretary will primarily help with the coordination and administrative activities of the committee, including:
- Supporting the Chair with regular committee operations
- Coordinating meetings and maintaining meeting schedules
- Preparing and organizing meeting agendas and materials
- Taking and maintaining meeting minutes
- Following up on action items and communications
- Maintaining committee records and documentation
- Helping coordinate communication among committee members and working groups
- Assisting with minor updates and routine administrative tasks related to IEEE standards activities
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is:
- Currently pursuing or has completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree
- Organized, responsive, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable communicating professionally in English
- Able to attend virtual meetings and follow up on action items in a timely manner
- Interested in technology, engineering, AI, software, standards, governance, or related areas
Previous IEEE membership is not required.
Experience with project coordination, student organizations, research groups, professional associations, or administrative work is helpful but not necessary.
