Overview:

EdgeBrook Farm is a New Jersey farm project providing interns with the opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of a real agricultural operation. EdgeBrook Farm is seeking motivated candidates for the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Internship [NJ Farm Project] to support projects involving agricultural production systems, soil and water resources, biological processes, sustainability, and engineering solutions for farm operations.

This internship provides practical experience applying engineering and biological principles to real-world agricultural challenges. Participants will have opportunities to explore how technology, natural resources, and biological systems can work together to improve agricultural productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with evaluating agricultural and biological systems used in farm operations.
  • Support projects involving soil, water, crops, irrigation, and agricultural resource management.
  • Help collect, organize, and analyze data related to agricultural production and environmental conditions.
  • Research engineering approaches for improving agricultural efficiency and sustainability.
  • Assist with evaluating water-use, irrigation, drainage, and resource-management practices.
  • Research technologies that support crop production and biological agricultural systems.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve the interaction between farm technology and natural systems.
  • Assist with technical documentation, research summaries, and project reports.
  • Support projects involving sustainable agriculture and responsible use of natural resources.
  • Collaborate with project leadership and other interns on agricultural and biological engineering initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Biological Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Interest in agriculture, biological systems, sustainability, and engineering.
  • Strong analytical, research, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of biological, environmental, or agricultural systems.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, engineering design, laboratory methods, or technical software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of soil, water resources, irrigation, crop systems, or sustainable agriculture is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
