Human Resources Co-Op

Human Resources Co-Op Student (year-round assignment)

Martinrea is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Human Resources Co-Op Student to join our HR team for a year-long placement. This opportunity provides hands-on exposure to a variety of HR functions including onboarding, recruiting, employee engagement, records management, training, and HR administration.

The successful candidate will gain valuable real-world experience working alongside HR professionals while contributing to meaningful projects that support our employees and business operations.

Essential Responsibilities

HR Administration

  • Assist with creating and maintaining employee personnel files.
  • Support digital filing and document management initiatives.
  • Assist with auditing employee records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Help prepare onboarding and orientation materials.

Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

  • Assist with posting job openings and screening the candidates 
  • Review resumes and helps organize candidate information.
  • Schedule interviews and communicate with candidates.
  • Participate in career fairs and campus recruiting activities.

Onboarding Support

  • Prepare new hire packets and orientation materials.
  • Assist with new hire set-up and onboarding coordination.
  • Follow up on missing onboarding documentation.
  • Help coordinate welcome communications and new employee introductions.

Employee Engagement & Events

  • Assist with planning employee appreciation events, wellness activities, and intern programs.
  • Support employee recognition initiatives and communications.
  • Help prepare materials, presentations, flyers, and event logistics.

Training & Development

  • Support learning and development initiatives.
  • Track training completion and employee participation.

HR Projects

  • Assist with special HR projects and process improvements.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and HR metrics.
  • Research best practices and help develop recommendations for HR programs.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in: 
    • Human Resources
    • Business Administration
    • Organizational Leadership
    • Psychology
    • Communications
    • Related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with HR systems or recruiting platforms.
  • Interest in employee relations, recruiting, training, or HR operations.
  • Strong customer service mindset and interpersonal skills.
