Position Summary

The Graduate Assistant (GA) provides direct support to students. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President & Dean of Students or designee and is designed to providea graduate studentwith meaningful, hands-onprofessional experience relatedto program development and direct support and care for students.

 

Position Description

The GA will assistin student case management that fosters a supportive, inclusive, and accountable environment for students.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Follow-up meetings with students to help identify academic, personal, and social needs. 
  • Collaborates with DOS, GHC, and OUCC to develop tailored intervention plans to support student success and well-being.
  • Provides ongoing case management and support by monitoring student progress, coordinating campus and community resources, and advocating for necessary accommodations or services.
  • Provides outreach education to the university community.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Completed bachelor’s degree
  • Full-time enrollment (minimum 8 credits)in a graduate program at OU
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and good academic standing
  • Available to work 20 hours per week on campus
  • Written approvalrequired from supervisor for other time-intensive activities such as internships or employment

  • Demonstrated interest in student support programs and initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse groups
  • Effective writtenand verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Professional discretion and commitment to maintaining confidentiality

 

Remuneration

  • Tuition waiver for up to 8 credits per semester(total of 16 credits annually)
  • Monthly stipend
