Position Overview

UDS is seeking a GIS Specialist & Infrastructure Data Intern to help transform drone imagery

and field data into organized, visual, and actionable infrastructure information.

The intern will support projects involving buildings, roofs, construction sites, municipal assets,

waterways, and other infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Assist with GIS mapping and spatial data organization.

• Process and organize drone-generated geospatial data.

• Create maps showing infrastructure assets and inspection locations.

• Help develop asset inventories and databases.

• Assist with orthomosaic and aerial imagery analysis.

• Support 3D modeling and digital twin projects.

• Map buildings, roofs, waterways, construction sites, and infrastructure assets.

• Help identify and document changes or conditions over time.

• Organize inspection findings geographically.

• Support integration of GIS information into the future UDS infrastructure intelligence

platform.

• Create maps and visuals for customer reports.

• Assist with maintaining accurate infrastructure datasets.

• Work with drone pilots and software developers to improve data workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

• Student or recent graduate in GIS, Geography, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Data Science, Geospatial Technology, or related field.

• Familiarity with ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or similar GIS software.

• Understanding of coordinate systems and spatial data. 
• Experience with drone imagery or photogrammetry is a plus.

• Familiarity with LiDAR, CAD, 3D modeling, Python, or data visualization is a plus.

• Strong attention to detail.
