Ethics Intern Unpaid

Job Title: Ethics Intern 

Department: Self Governance & Compliance Department

Location: Remote (EST)

Duration: 4 Months, 5 Hours a Week (Exceptions for Midterms and Finals)

Compensation: Unpaid / Academic Credit Available

What You’ll Be Doing:

As an Ethics Intern, you will be ensuring that all fundraising, political contributions, and operational activities strictly follow federal, state, and local campaign finance laws, lobbying rules, and internal codes of conduct. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review all incoming contributions and outgoing disbursements to verify they match contribution limits, legal thresholds, and source prohibitions
  • Maintain secure, precise databases of donors, receipts, and political spending
  • Help compile, review, and submit mandatory periodic financial disclosure reports to regulatory bodies like the Federal Election Commission (FEC) or state ethics commissions
  • Answer basic compliance or ethical questions from interns or donors regarding political engagement
  • Track changing state and federal campaign finance laws or legislative updates
     

Qualifications

  • Majoring in political science, public policy, business administration, law/paralegal studies, or a related field.
