Overview:
This internship is for a project which is about our founder of ULimo, John Snee, and his potential mayoral candidacy for the city of New York.
The Public Policy Internship [Project: John Snee NYC Mayoral Candidacy] provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience related to policy analysis, government programs, economic and social policy, and issues affecting New York City. Interns will support research and project activities while gaining exposure to the development, evaluation, and communication of public policy.
This internship is designed for students interested in political science, public policy, government, public service, and policy research. Interns will have opportunities to apply concepts from their coursework to a real-world political project while developing research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Research public policy issues relevant to New York City and its residents.
Analyze publicly available information related to government programs and policy proposals.
Research economic, social, housing, transportation, education, and other policy issues relevant to local government.
Monitor and summarize current policy developments affecting New York City.
Review government reports, policy documents, legislation, and publicly available research.
Assist with preparing policy summaries, briefing materials, reports, and other project documents.
Compare different policy approaches and organize findings for the project team.
Research community concerns and issues that may influence local policy priorities.
Help organize information related to public programs, government services, and policy initiatives.
Collaborate with project leadership and other interns on public policy and government-related initiatives.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework or a degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or a closely related field.
Interest in public policy, government, political research, and public service.
Strong research, analytical, written communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and summarize findings clearly.
Familiarity with government programs, policy analysis, or local government is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, research databases, or similar tools is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on research and project assignments.
Interest in New York City government and public policy issues is a plus.
