Overview:
This internship is for a project which is about our founder of ULimo, John Snee, and his potential mayoral candidacy for the city of New York.
The Comparative Politics Internship [Project: John Snee NYC Mayoral Candidacy] provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience researching and comparing political systems, governments, elections, public policies, and political institutions. Interns will support research and project activities while examining how different governments and cities approach political and public policy challenges.
This internship is designed for students interested in political science, comparative politics, government, elections, and public policy. Interns will have opportunities to apply concepts from their coursework to a real-world political project while developing research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Research and compare political systems, government institutions, and political processes.
Examine how different cities and governments approach public policy and administrative challenges.
Compare election systems, political institutions, and government structures.
Research political developments and governmental practices in the United States and other countries.
Identify approaches used by other governments that may provide useful context for issues affecting New York City.
Review publicly available government reports, policy documents, election information, and political research.
Assist with preparing research summaries, comparative analyses, briefing materials, reports, and other project documents.
Help organize information related to political systems, public policies, elections, and government institutions.
Support research comparing local government structures and political processes across different locations.
Collaborate with project leadership and other interns on comparative politics and government-related research initiatives.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework or a degree in Political Science or a closely related field.
Interest in comparative politics, government, elections, political institutions, and public policy.
Strong research, analytical, written communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to compare information from multiple sources and summarize findings clearly.
Familiarity with different political systems, governments, or election systems is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, research databases, or similar tools is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on research and project assignments.
Interest in comparing political and governmental issues across different countries and cities is a plus.
