The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division is seeking engineering and other technical majors for potential student internship and entry-level systems-engineering opportunities. Our systems engineers help connect the hardware, software, people, processes, and technical requirements needed to develop and sustain Navy capabilities.
Depending on your placement, you could support radar, combat systems, missiles, launchers, autonomous systems, ship modernization, fire control, directed energy, hypersonics, or other advanced technologies.
Potential responsibilities may include:
- Supporting the development and analysis of system requirements
- Helping define system architectures, functions, and interfaces
- Using model-based systems engineering and digital-engineering tools
- Supporting hardware and software integration
- Conducting trade studies, risk assessments, and technical analyses
- Developing verification and validation plans
- Supporting system testing and evaluating results
- Identifying and resolving issues between system components
- Preparing technical documentation and presenting recommendations
- Coordinating with engineers, scientists, program teams, sponsors, and other stakeholders

- Software Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Engineering Science or related technical disciplines
Helpful experience may include coursework or projects involving requirements, system architecture, modeling and simulation, MATLAB, Python, Cameo or similar MBSE tools, testing, technical writing, team-based design, or multidisciplinary engineering.

Basic eligibility:
- Current student or recent graduate in a relevant STEM degree program
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Interest in understanding how multiple technical components work together
- Ability to collaborate across different engineering disciplines
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the position
