Human Resources Intern – Summer Internship

Position Summary

Gotion is seeking a motivated Human Resources Intern to support the HR team at our Manteno, Illinois manufacturing facility. This internship provides hands-on exposure to recruiting, employee relations, HR administration, onboarding, HRIS systems, employee engagement, and workforce planning within a rapidly growing manufacturing organization.

The intern will work closely with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, and other departments to support day-to-day HR activities and special projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Communications, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the HR team with day-to-day administrative and operational activities.
  • Support recruiting activities, including job posting, candidate coordination, interview scheduling, and applicant tracking.
  • Assist with new-hire onboarding and orientation activities.
  • Help maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
  • Support HRIS data entry and employee information updates.
  • Assist with preparing HR reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and workforce data.
  • Support employee engagement activities and company events.
  • Assist with coordinating training and development activities.
  • Help track employee attendance, staffing levels, and other workforce metrics.
  • Support HR projects related to employee retention, engagement, and workforce planning.
  • Assist HR team members with employee communications and internal announcements.
  • Help organize and maintain confidential HR files in accordance with company policies.
  • Participate in HR meetings and gain exposure to various areas of Human Resources.
  • Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in:
    • Human Resources
    • Business Administration
    • Organizational Psychology
    • Industrial/Organizational Psychology
    • Communications
    • Management
    • Or a related field.
  • Strong interest in Human Resources and employee support.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred

  • Previous HR, recruiting, administrative, customer service, or office experience.
  • Coursework in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Employment Law, or Organizational Psychology.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, or other business software.
  • Exposure to HRIS or applicant tracking systems.
  • Experience participating in student organizations, leadership programs, or campus activities.
  • Interest in manufacturing, technology, energy storage, or battery manufacturing.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable communicating with people at all levels, takes initiative, pays attention to detail, and can handle confidential information appropriately.

Previous professional HR experience is not required. Coursework, student organizations, campus leadership, customer service, administrative work, or recruiting-related experience can provide valuable preparation.

Education

Required: Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Communications, Management, or a related field.

Target Graduation: Open to students graduating in 2027, 2028, or 2029.

Work Environment

  • Primarily on-site at Gotion's Manteno, Illinois manufacturing facility.
  • Work will primarily take place in an office/HR environment with opportunities to interact with employees throughout the manufacturing operation.
  • May require occasional visits to manufacturing and operational areas.
  • Must follow all company safety, confidentiality, and HR policies.

Internship Objective

By the completion of the internship, the student should have developed a foundational understanding of how Human Resources supports employees, recruiting, workforce planning, employee engagement, and business operations within a large-scale manufacturing organization.

The intern will gain practical experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world HR activities and projects while developing professional skills in communication, organization, HR systems, and employee support.

This position is designed as an entry-level learning opportunity and does not require prior professional Human Resources experience.
