Summer Intern - Software Engineer

Black River Systems Company, a small, established research-oriented engineering firm headquartered in Utica, NY, is looking for a Summer Intern – Software Engineer. The student will gain work experience equivalent to that of an entry-level engineer and will be responsible for the bulk of the engineering project effort. This includes project planning, system design, system modeling, auditing of proper approvals, material procurement, engineering tasks (software, hardware and algorithms), test and debug, presentations, documentation and final report. Potential technical areas include but are not real-time embedded processing, high performance computing, modeling and simulation, software tool development, and visualization of data and algorithms.

Position Requirements:

• Currently working towards a Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, computer engineering or related engineering field

• Must have at least two years of college completed at an accredited school.

• Minimum 3.25 overall GPA

• Technical analytical, and problem solving skills

• Solid communication, documentation, and collaborative/teamwork skills.

• Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following is desired: C, C++, C#, Java, Python

• US citizenship - must have or be eligible for a Department of Defense security clearance
