Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies (HII-MT) is seeking an Engineering Intern with solid knowledge of the basic principles of electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or embedded systems. This position may also require an interest in the modeling, simulation, and/or analysis of electronic warfare systems, or RF/EO/IR sensors. Candidates should be familiar with basic radar theory and strive to be able to analyze performance and develop subsystem-level models and characterizations of radar components such as antennas, transmitters, receivers, signal processors, trackers, and mode control computers. Candidates will use good people skills and strong technical interests/capabilities to work with a highly technical team of engineers and scientists solving challenging technical questions about highly complex RF systems.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Internships are available to help students gain real-world experience in the work force. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership. Support the Engineering team with engineering functions in one or more of the following specialties: electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil, naval, and/or chemical. Assist with troubleshooting issues and provide technical support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working towards degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • Interest in assembling and disassembling hardware systems, equipment, and associated components
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or embedded systems
  • CLEARANCE : Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance with enhanced security checks. 

 

Engineering Intern 1 : High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with up to 20% of the required credits completed.

Engineering Intern 2 : High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with between 20% and 40% of the required credits completed.

Engineering Intern 3 : High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with between 40% and 60% of the required credits completed.

Engineering Intern 4 : High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with more than 60% of the required credits completed.

Physical Requirements

Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
