Summer 2027 Internship - Accounting

Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.

Whether your interests are in accounting operations, financial reporting, tax, or controls, you'll have opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow.

 

The Work Itself

As an Accounting Intern, you'll collaborate with experienced professionals and support work that helps drive accurate financial reporting and informed business decisions across Ally.

 

Depending on your team assignment, you may work in:

Business Unit & Enterprise Accounting

  • Support accounting and reporting activities for Ally business lines and enterprise functions.
  • Assist with account analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
  • Contribute to month-end and quarter-end close activities.

Tax Accounting, Planning & Reporting

  • Assist in preparing tax provisions and related disclosures.
  • Support tax forecasting and reporting activities.
  • Contribute to tax return preparation and research efforts.
  • Help evaluate the impact of tax law changes on the business.

Financial Controls

  • Assist with testing and monitoring internal controls.
  • Support documentation and governance activities.
  • Help identify and address control-related issues while promoting process improvements.

Financial Reporting

  • Support preparation of reports filed with the SEC, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Assist with regulatory and industry reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external auditors.

Program Details

  • Program Start: May 2027
  • Program End: August 2027
  • Format: In-person internship with flexibility
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly pay

 

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Must be graduating between December 2027 and May 2029
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree and entering your senior year, or pursuing a Master's degree in Accounting at the time of the internship.
  • Students entering their junior year may also be considered.
  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Interest in obtaining CPA licensure.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to participate for the full duration of the internship.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous accounting internship, project experience, or coursework demonstrating accounting knowledge.
  • Leadership experience through student organizations, athletics, volunteer work, employment, or community involvement.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Base Pay Range

$25.00 - $29.00

An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer. 
 

Incentive Compensation:

This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
