Social Media Manager

Social Media and Marketing Manager (Seasonal Internship)

You'll be the voice and creative lead of Camp Timberlane's online presence, sharing the energy, adventure, and community of camp with families, alumni, and future campers. As the leader of our media team, you'll guide the camp photographer and videographer, making sure the full story of each summer is captured and shared. Each day, you'll curate and post photos and videos to our social media channels and website, keep families connected throughout the summer, and develop new creative projects that help promote camp. This internship blends leadership, strategy, and creativity, perfect for someone who loves storytelling, social media, and the outdoors, and who wants hands-on marketing experience in a one-of-a-kind setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support the camp photographer and videographer, setting daily and weekly coverage priorities and providing creative direction.
  • Upload and manage daily and weekly photo and video content across camp social media platforms, the online gallery, and the camp website.
  • Plan and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent, high-quality posting throughout the summer.
  • Write engaging captions, updates, and stories that reflect camp's voice and community values.
  • Collaborate with camp leadership and administrative staff to ensure a wide variety of activities, programs, and campers are represented.
  • Develop and lead new creative projects to promote camp, such as campaigns, series, special features, or recruitment content.
  • Review photos and videos for quality and appropriateness before publishing, following camp media and privacy guidelines.
  • Track social media engagement and share insights to help improve future content.
  • Support the overall mission and community values of camp.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, etc.) and content best practices.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Leadership ability and comfort guiding and motivating a small creative team.
  • Creative eye for storytelling, composition, and brand consistency.
  • Familiarity with basic photo and video editing software; experience with website content management preferred.
  • Current or recent study in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field preferred.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and comfort engaging with campers and staff.
  • Willingness to live and work in a camp setting.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate cameras, computers, and editing and publishing software efficiently under time constraints.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather while protecting equipment and ensuring safety.
  • Lift, carry, and move equipment up to 30 lbs.
